    DAYCARE

Daycare is a cage-free service designed for social dogs to play and have fun. Safety is our primary goal, therefore, Daycare is not for every dog. To be accepted into our Daycare program, each Daycare guest must:

    1. Complete a Daycare Registration form and Daycare Agreement, read and sign the Rules and Policies, and fill out the Off Leash Play Application
    2. Be at least 16 weeks of age and have completed their first two series of vaccinations, including the Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella vaccine, the Leptospirosis vaccine and a fecal exam
    3. Meet our published vaccination standards
    4. Attend a Daycare evaluation day (single-day fee applies) and be deemed “safe for play”

  • Daycare is offered from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Dogs not picked up by closing time will be charged an hourly late fee of $15/hr., after 8pm dogs will be considered boarders and will be charged accordingly.
  • Daycare fees are based on a single visit or pre-paid package plan. Daycare packages have no expiration.
  • All package sales are final. No refunds are issued for any unused portions.
  • New overnight guests must be "accepted" by attending a prearranged evaluation day equating to a full day of daycare.
  • Daycare and our daycare transportation service is limited in size, therefore clients are strongly encouraged to make reservations in advance to avoid disappointment. Priority goes to clients with standing reservations. We request 24-hour notification for cancellations in order to properly staff a safe play environment.
  • HEALTH CARE

  • The health and safety of each guest is our number one priority, therefore, every pet must have a Registration form completed prior to his/her stay. This profile helps us understand your pet’s background, personality and special needs so we can make his/her visit as safe and as comfortable as possible.
  • All guests must be in good health and must not have had or been exposed to any contagious or communicable illnesses within a 30-day period prior to check-in. Dogwood advises against boarding guests that have a terminal illness and are in the late stages of that illness.
  • Each pet receives a pre-entry evaluation prior to admittance. This helps ensure a flea-free, healthy environment. Pet’s showing signs of fleas, vomiting, coughing, gagging, sneezing or diarrhea may not be admitted.
  • Guests must possess a temperament that allows staff members to be able to properly care for them. Allowances may be made for specific temperament issues, but pets cannot pose a danger to staff members.
  • All guests that enter the facility with fleas will be charged a $25 fee. A flea infested pet will be quarantined and the owner will be called immediately to retrieve the pet or give permission for a flea bath (also $25.00).
  • VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

  • In the best interest of all, each guest must meet our published vaccinations standards before admittance. Pets requiring vaccination updates must have the vaccination(s) administered before any grooming service, daycare visit or overnight stay is scheduled.
  • Individual circumstances may be considered with written documentation from a veterinarian.
  • In rare circumstances we will accept titers.
  • Puppies must be at least 16 weeks of age and have completed their first two series of vaccinations, including the Bordetella vaccine and a fecal exam. Puppies must have their full series of vaccinations, including the rabies vaccine. Owners with young puppies must understand and assume the risks associated with exposing puppies to a cage free environment.
  • RABIES: Current in the last year for puppies and the past three years for adults.
DHLPP (Includes Distemper, Hepatitis, Lepto, Parvo, Parainfluenza): Current in the last year. (Separate Lepto vaccine is also acceptable)
BORDETELLA: Current in the last six months.
FECAL EXAM: Current in last year

    FOOD, MEDICATIONS & EXERCISE

  • Customers are required to provide their dog’s own food (at no additional charge). Each meal should be prepared in a separate baggie and labeled appropriately, by meal, with your pet’s first and last name on it. We feed twice daily –approximately 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. In the event your supply of food runs short and needs to be replenished, a food fee of $5.00 will be charged for each meal and we will provide the house food.
  • Dogwood will administer oral and topical medications. All medications shall be provided by owner and clearly labeled with written instructions, including: medication name, pet’s name, dosage, and administration schedule.
  • Dogwood will administer insulin and charges $5.00 per injection.
  • Guests requiring specialized care (handling, splint/bandage changes, hand feeding, walking assistance, pee pee pads, insulin etc.) are handled on a case-by-case basis and will be charged accordingly.
  • It is standard for each canine guest to be part of the daily playgroup, therefore we require our canine guests to be social and trustworthy in a pack environment. In the rare case that your dog's behavior changes over the course of their stay and can no longer join playgroup, two walks per day will be provided along with alone time in our yard.
  • It is standard for Dogwood Cottage to use treadmills to balance the energy of the pack. If you do not want your dog to receive treadmill exercise please inform us at check in. If you are interested in your dog receiving regular treadmill exercise please contact us for more information on our treadmill packages.
